This feature is only available on the Sonus SBC 1000. Companding law is determined automatically on the Sonus SBC 2000 as a function of system hardware.
Setting the Companding Law
To set the companding law:
- In the WebUI, click the Settings tab.
In the left navigation pane, go to System > System Companing Law.
Configuration - Field Definitions
Specifies which companing law the system uses.

The correct companding law is dependent upon the physical interface type and switch variant.
Misconfigured Companding Laws may result in dropped calls and/or poor audio quality. Symptoms include dropped outgoing ISDN/BRI calls and loud crackling noises on ISDN/Analog and BRI/Analog calls.
